Description: Within this unit of work students will be given the opportunity to experiment with different ways of making music.  Students will be given the opportunity to create their own musical instrument and discuss ways in which music influences their lives.  Students will have the opportunity to play some beginning notes on an instrument i.e. a descant recorder. Students will explore how to appreciate music from different places and how people have different opinions about music.

  • reasons for eating food
  • food safety
  • food models, including the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating
  • planning menus and preparing meals.

  • models for healthy eating and the Australian Dietary Guidelines (ADG)
  • nutrient and energy composition of foods
  • dietary considerations for special needs including preparation of healthy meals
  • the relationship between diet and health and analysis of diets
  • the principles of balance, moderation, variety and factors that influence choices

 

Later adolescenceTitle: Textiles and Decorative Arts

Description: This unit is designed to encourage students to explore various creative textile forms and to apply these techniques to produce clothing and/or decorative items. Students will learn to compile design folios where they will record their research, problem solving, manufacturing processes, and evaluate their projects.
